Monica Geller had her fair share of love interests over the course of 10 seasons on Friends. Obviously, we know that she ended up married to Chandler Bing and that their relationship is super cute, relatable, and sweet. Prior to settling down with Chandler, Monica dated quite a few guys, had crushes on a few other, and even fell deeply in love! Continue reading to find out how we have definitively ranked Monica Geller’s love interests across ten seasons of Friends.

Monica Geller is one of the more underrated characters from the show because she is often overshadowed by the character of Rachel Green, played by Jennifer Aniston, but right now our sole focus is Monica Geller and her love interests!

13 Ethan– Underage Jailbait

When Monica hooked up with Ethan, it was probably one of the creepiest love storylines written into the entire show. He turned out to be underage… He was only 17 years old when he entered her life. She also lied about her age and said that she was younger. She claimed to be 22 when she was 26.

12 Timothy Burke– The Son Of One Of Her Greatest Loves

Timothy Burke is the son of Richard Burke, one of Monica Geller’s greatest love interests. The fact that she started a small fling with Timothy Burke is super awkward and probably should never have happened. Their fling didn’t last long— and for good reason. She couldn’t stop thinking about Richard!

11 Chip Matthews– The Man With No Ambition

Chip Matthews was one of Monica’s love interests but unfortunately, he had no ambition. She crushed on him while they were both in high school back when it was cool to be attracted to him. After high school, they went on a date and she found out that he still lived at home and didn’t care about growing up whatsoever. If he had grown up and made positive changes in his life (changes that most normal adults make) then maybe their relationship could have flourished.

10 The Coma Guy– When He Comes To, He’s Kind Of A Jerk

Monica started flirting with a man who turned her way and ended up getting hit by a car and landing in a coma. She fantasized about him the entire time he was in a coma but after he woke up, she discovered that he was kind of a jerk! There weren't really any redeeming qualities about him. While he was in a coma, she was able to imagine what it might be like to date him once he woke up. Phoebe Buffay was interested in him too!

9 Julio– The Sexist Poet/Busboy

Monica Geller had a short fling with a guy that she worked with at a diner. His name was Julio. He wrote a poem about her but the poem ended up being very sexist. After figuring out that the poem wasn’t very nice, she called him out on it and he revealed to her that the poem was not about her but rather about all women in general. Dating any guy who is sexist isn’t a good idea or a smart idea for any woman to do. Men should have respect for women, generally!

8 Paul The Wine Guy– The Man Who Repeats Lines To Bed Women

Paul “the wine guy” ended up being a love interest of Monica’s who lied about certain aspects of his emotional status and romantic history in order to get in bed with new women. He used a line (about mourning his dead wife) on Monica and he used the same line with another woman and was able to fool them both! Monica was able to discuss the situation with the other woman and his lie was revealed.

7 Fun Bobby– Only Fun While Under The Influence

Fun Bobby is probably one of Monica Geller’s most memorable ex-boyfriends before she ended up with Chandler Bing. Unfortunately, he was only fun when he was under the influence. After she helped him get sober, she found him too dull. She started to drink more alcohol in order to have more fun around him and he accused her of having a drinking problem! They were not meant to be.

6 Alan– Monica Didn’t Like Him And He Didn’t Like Her Friends

Monica dated a guy named Alan but she wasn’t able to feel any major sparks with him. When she brought him around her friends, her friends really seemed to like him but Monica simply didn’t feel the same way. By the end of the episode, he revealed that he wasn’t a big fan of her friends which is obviously a dealbreaker for her. It is a dealbreaker for Monica that whoever she is dating turns out to be someone who actually vibes super well with her closest friends.

5 Jean-Claude Van Damme– He Liked Rachel More

Jean-Claude Van Damme was more interested in Rachel Green than Monica Geller. Monica obviously had a major crush on him and wanted him to be interested in her more than anything, but that just wasn’t how things worked out. He agreed to go on a date with Monica, even though he was interested in Rachel… and he only agreed because he thought he’d be getting a physical favor out of it. It was not meant to be for her and this particular gentleman.

4 Bob– Monica’s Date Double Date Went Well

Joey enlisted Monica's help in going on a double date. Joey wanted to hook up with a woman and he wanted Monica to distract her date. Monica and this guy, Bob, really hit it off on the date. Unfortunately, things didn't really progress further than that for them.

3 Pete Becker– If Only He Didn’t Want To Be A Pro Boxer

If Peter Becker didn’t want to become a professional boxer, things between him and Monica might have actually ended up working out. Unfortunately, she was not comfortable with seeing him get hurt and decided to walk away from the relationship entirely. When they first started dating, she wasn’t all that interested but over time, things changed and she gave him a chance.

2 Richard Burke– If Only They Were Closer In Age

Monica Geller‘s greatest love interest aside from Chandler Bing would have to be Richard Burke. The biggest problem between these two is the fact that they had such a large age gap. She wanted to be a mother one day and have kids, but he was no longer interested in that.

1 Chandler Bing– Obviously, Her Perfect Match

Chandler Bing is obviously Monica Geller’s perfect match! They ended up together and they complimented each other extremely well. Their relationship made the most sense to viewers of the show because Monica and Chandler clicked so well and made each other so happy. They bonded over the fact that they were also friends with each other.
