In 2020, Baby Driver star Ansel Elgort was at the middle of major public backlash, following allegations that he sexually assaulted a 17-year-old girl in New York City in 2014. The consumer known herself as "Gabby," in a post that detailed the assault, and has since been deleted.
After the allegations made in opposition to him, Elgort took to social media to specific his "distress" over the accusation, denying that he assaulted Gabby. The actor also stated that he dated her in 2014, describing their courting as a "brief, legal and entirely consensual" one.
Ansel Elgort Attends New Movie Premiere
Elgort attended a premiere of his upcoming Steven Spielberg-directed film West Side Story, along longtime ballerina girlfriend Violetta Komyshan. The pair were reported to have broken up after no longer being spotted in combination for months, but they made a unprecedented public appearance on November 29.
Komyshan seemed shocking as same old in a gold, strapless gown, whilst the 27-year-old actor donned a black tuxedo.
Some Twitter customers are horrified at Elgort's comeback to the films, particularly after he allegedly sought out underage ladies and despatched them unsolicited photos.
"I cannot believe that Ansel Elgort repeatedly sought out underage chicks and abused them and there’s proof of it and he’s still sitting on that stage," a user wrote, sharing a photo of the cast.
"Ansel elgort is an abuser and no amount of positive press is going to make what he did to those girls go away. shame on you
@20thcentury for trying and everyone else who is, ultimately, enabling him," wrote another.
"So just cuz the new West Side Story seems to actually be good we're just going to praise Ansel Elgort while ignoring the sexual assault allegations against him?" inquired a third.
"He doesn’t deserve anything and he especially doesn’t deserve to stand by rachel zegler," mentioned some other.
While a few of Elgort's fans are claiming that the actor has denied the allegations and he wasn't investigated for the fees, others blamed his privilege for allowing him to experience a public profession despite inflicting others hurt.
"I cannot claim to understand Gabby's feelings but her depiction of events is simply not what happened. I have never and would never assault anyone," the actor wrote in a remark closing yr.
