10 Here's How J.B. Got The Role

Fans have been extremely joyful when J.B. Smoove joined Curb Your Enthusiasm in season 6. The casting selection came about solely unintentionally. At the time, J.B. had been writing for SNL, however a funeral led him from New York to LA. While in LA, he decided to audition for Curb.

As he told the LA Times, "They said, 'OK J.B., you're gonna improv with Larry.' But I was already in Leon mode when I walked into the room. I said, 'OK, let's do this ****, Larry.' Because we improv-ing, right? I said, 'I'll smack you in the face, right?' And Larry looked at everybody, like, 'Who the **** is this guy?'" But that has all modified with Curb. During a forged interview on TODAY, J.B. instructed Larry, "Black people, we love you. I'm telling you, black people love you. I told you that before... They love Larry."

As J.B. informed BUILD Series, Larry attended his 50th birthday bash in 2018: "Larry shows up early as hell... I said, 'Larry, why are you so goddamn early to my party, man?' Larry was the first one there."
